Overall strength

In 2024, the regional GDP hit 554.001 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.9% (calculated at comparable prices). The added value of the primary industry was 17.264 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5%; that of the secondary industry was 254.344 billion yuan, an increase of 6.2%; that of the tertiary industry was 282.393 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7%. The ratio of the three industries was adjusted to 3.1:45.9:51.0. The city’s per capita GDP reached 171,700 yuan (USD 24,106 converted at the annual average exchange rate), an increase of 5.8%.

Opening up

In 2024, the total volume of import and export trade was USD 14.575 billion, an increase of 3.8% over the previous year, of which the total import was USD 3.361 billion, a decrease of 3.9% and the total export was USD 11.214 billion, a rise of 6.3%. The total export of general trade was USD 9.221 billion, rising by 6.2% and accounting for 82.2% of the total export volume. The total export of processing trade was USD 1.782 billion, an increase of 4.9%. In terms of export market, the export to ASEAN countries reached USD 1.829 billion, growing by 7.3%; to EU, USD 2.480 billion, jumping by 9.6%; to the United States, USD 1.704 billion, down by 5.3%; and to ROK, USD 418 million, up by 9.1%. The export to the countries along the Belt and Road totaled USD 4.707 billion, jumping by 10.6%, accounting for 42.0% of the city’s total export volume.

In 2024, Zhenjiang approved registration of 71 foreign-invested enterprises, and 6 projects each with an investment over USD 10 million. The actual use of foreign capital was USD 194 million, a decrease of 54.6%. The city registered contractual foreign investment of USD 326 million. The total contract value for the service outsourcing industry was USD 6.136 billion, up by 23.5% over the previous year, of which the offshore outsourcing contract value was USD 3.026 billion, surging by 64.3%. The total execution value was USD 5.199 billion, jumping by 25.3%, of which the offshore outsourcing execution value was USD 2.615 billion, up 61.6%.
