updated on:2021-05-13 21:26

Londrina, located in the state of Paraná in southern Brazil, is the fourth largest city in the region, with a population of 575,000 in 2020.

As a commercial and processing hub in northern Paraná, Londrina hosts large instant coffee factories as well as diverse industries including textiles, food, and paper. It is connected by rail to São Paulo and Curitiba, and a dual-carriageway expressway dedicated to transporting coffee to the port of Paranaguá.

Londrina is actively promoting the development of industrial parks focused on manufacturing and agricultural processing, though its primary economic revenue still relies on agricultural production. In addition to coffee cultivation, the city is home to numerous plantations growing corn, wheat, cotton, rice, sugarcane, soybeans, and fruits. Thanks to its location in a tropical region with terra roxa soil, the city sees diversified development in agricultural activities.

The two cities officially became sister cities on June 4, 1997.
